About the Texas Surf Conservancy

Our History
From Surf Museum
to Surf Conservancy

In the fall of 2022, our former organization’s board of directors made the decision to close the Texas Surf Museum in order to evolve the organization’s mission to expand its focus on broader environmental issues—the health of marine habitats and oyster mariculture on the Gulf Coast of Texas. The Texas Surf Museum shut its doors as a cultural arts space and donated its collection of memorabilia and exhibits to Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) and the new Texas Surf Museum in Galveston.

The nonprofit then transitioned into its new iteration of intended impact in the community—the Texas Surf Conservancy—whose overall goal is to focus on marine conservation and address the issues that threaten Texas’ beaches and coastal habitats.
